Schedule and Other details of World Sangeet Tansen Festival
• The World Sangeet Tansen Festival 2021 is witnessing participation of many artists from India as well as from abroad.
• During the festival, a total of nine musical concerts will be held.
• All the programs are being held in 2 shifts.
• Morning function starts from 10 am to 3pm whereas the evening function shift begins from 6 pm to 10 pm.
• First seven concerts are being held at the stage prepared at the mausoleum of Tansen and the tomb of Sufi saint Mohammad Ghaus. The eighth concert will be held on the banks of Jhilmil river, in Behat (Birthplace of Tansen) on December 30. The last brief concert will be held at Gwalior Fort on the same day.

Who was Tansen?
Tansen, also known as Miyan Tan Sen or Ramtanu Pande, was a prominent figure of Hindustani classical music. He was born in a Hindu family and learnt his art in Madhya Pradesh.

Tansen was earlier a court musician of Rama Chandra, a Raja of Bhatta (Rewa). In 1562, he joined the Akbar’s court. The famous Sufi saint Shaikh Salim Chishti was great admirer of Tansen. Tansen was conferred the title of Kanthabharanvani Vilas by Akbar. Tansen’s son Tantarng also sang in the court of Akbar.
