Every year April 17 is marked as World Hemophilia Day. 

World Hemophilia Day was observed in India by organizing various public awareness programmes.

Theme World Hemophilia Day 2023

The theme of World Hemophilia Day 2023 is “Access for All: Prevention of Bleeding as the global standard of Care”. The theme urges policymakers and governments to improve access to care for all those with bleeding disorders.

Hemophilia is an inherited rare bleeding disorder in which blood doesn't clot normally. This is because the body does not produce sufficient blood clotting factors. A person with hemophilia might bleed for a longer time after an injury. Sometimes Hemophilia can be life-threatening.

The condition occurs predominantly in males. It occurs in about 1 of every 5,000 male births.

Hemophilia is a blood clotting disorder.

World Hemophilia Day is observed on April 17 to commemorate the birthday of Frank Schnabel, the founder of the World Federation of Hemophilia.
