Union Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurates 6th National Conclave on Mines and Minerals


6th National Conclave on Mines and Minerals: Union Minister for Mines Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the 6th National Conclave on Mines and Minerals in New Delhi.

Key Highlights:

  • The conclave was organized by the Ministry of Mines as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav iconic week celebrations on 12th July 2022 in New Delhi.
  • Shri Amit Shah, the Union Minister of Housing, was the chief guest at the colloquium that will be held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Center.

Key Points about the conclave:

  • The conclave’s opening session included a technical presentation from the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET) and a discussion on mining automation.
  • During the round table discussions, the CEOs of various mining businesses did come up with crucial ideas related to India’s mining industry.
  • Some of the highlights of the conclave are - the launch of three modules of the Mining Tenement System (MTS), awards for 5-Star rated mines for the years 2020–21, and the National Geo Science Awards–2019.
  • Other highlights included the presentation of the national level Rashtriya Khanij Vikas Puraskar to the best performing States in the field of mining.
  • As part of the afternoon session, the award function included presenting new mine blocks to State Governments and the Ministry of Coal and providing incentive to State Governments for successful auction and identification of blocks.
  • Districts performing well under District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMF) were showcasing their achievements.
  • Digital kiosk showcasing exhibitions on the development of exploration and mining during the last 75 years was on display. 
  • A life-size digital booklet depicting reforms undertaken in the mining sector will be yet another attraction of the conclave.

National Conclave on Mines & Minerals:

  • The Ministry of Mines introduced the concept of the National Mining Conclave in 2016.
  • This conclave was introduced with the aim to provide a platform for interaction among different stakeholders like Central Government officers who are policy makers, state government officers, the real executors in the auction regime, industry and the industry associations.
  • The National Conclave on Mines & Minerals is regarded as a resounding success in that it gave participants a forum to highlight important policy measures that had been made and assisted the government in gathering insightful feedback for the sustainable expansion of the mining sector.
