Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the National Security Strategies Conference 2022 in New Delhi


NSS Conference 2022:  Home Minister Amit Shah recently inaugurated and addressed a two day “National Security Strategies (NSS) Conference 2022” in New Delhi.

Key Highlights of the conference:

  • The Conference was attended by 600 officers from India, in virtual and physical modes.
  • On the first day, officers held discussions on different subjects of national security including counter-terrorism, issues related to crypto currencies radicalization, counter rogue drone technology, and challenges of Maoist outfits.
  • Union minister noted the important role played by District Level Police officers in marking the emerging terror hotspots.
  • He emphasized the value of having a strong human intelligence during the conference in order to combat terrorism.

  • The Home Minister also inaugurated the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS).
  • He mentioned that for the first time the country had developed a system in the form of the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) and that this system must eventually spread throughout the nation.

About National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS):

  • National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) was inaugurated on August 17, 2022 by Amit Shah.
  • NAFIS has been developed by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
  • This System will help in disposal of cases in easy and quick manner by using centralized fingerprint database.

Fact: The story of fingerprinting in fighting crime began in Bengal almost 150 years ago.

National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB):
