Singer KK Dies After Concert In Kolkata


Singer KK, 53, collapsed at the hotel where he was staying after a concert in Kolkata's Nazrul Mancha auditorium. Doctor at CMRI hospital said the singer was brought dead.

Who is KK?

  • Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK, was an Indian playback singer. He recorded songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati languages.
  • Born in Delhi to Malayali parents C. S. Menon and Kunnath Kanakavalli on 23 August 1968, KK was brought up in New Delhi. KK sang 3,500 jingles before breaking into Bollywood.
  • KK began his career by singing for advertisement jingles, and made his film debut with an A.R. Rahman soundtrack.
  • In 1999, he launched his debut album titled Pal. The songs "Pal" and "Yaaron" from the album Pal became very popular and are commonly used in school farewells.

Reason for the Demise

  • Indian singer KK, died of heart attack on May 31, 2022 just hours after giving a live performance at Kolkata. He was 53 years old.
  • KK reportedly felt unwell while performing at a concert at Nazrul Manch in Kolkata.
  • The show began at 5 pm. After the show he returned to his hotel in Esplanade, where he complained of uneasiness.
  • He was rushed to Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) at around 10:30 pm, where he was declared dead.

  • During a heart attack, a person will feel uneasiness or pain in the shoulder, arm, back, neck, jaw, and teeth. Sometimes this pain is seen in the upper belly too.
  • Apart from these signs, other signs of heart attack are chest pain like pressure, squeezing and tightness, cold sweat, fatigue, indigestion, dizziness, nausea and shortness of breath.
