Secretary of MoHUA chairs virtual interaction with PMAYU beneficiaries from 3 States


‘Labharthiyon Se Rubaroo’ Initiative: Recently, the secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) chaired the ‘Labharthiyon Se Rubaroo’ initiative of the Ministry.

Key Highlights:

  • A virtual interaction, under the ‘Labharthiyon Se Rubaroo’ initiative,  with Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) beneficiaries from Kerala, Assam and Jharkhand was held.
  • The main objective of the virtual/online campaign is to:-
  • To monitor the progress of PMAY (U) projects.
  • To bring about able governance and transparency by direct interaction with beneficiaries
  • To create a platform for officials from MoHUA and respective SLNA of States/UTs to facilitate and expedite the construction of houses in their respective cities.
  • To create a feeling of inclusiveness among beneficiaries.

About Labharthiyon Se Rubaroo:

  • Labharthiyon Se Rubaroo initiative is an initiative of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
  • This initiative was launched by the Ministry in September 2021 to monitor the progress of projects under the Mission by directly interacting with beneficiaries.
  • This was the 22nd edition of the programme hosted by the Ministry with beneficiaries of different States/UTs.

About PMAY-U:

  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) is a flagship Mission of Government of India (GoI).
  • It is being implemented by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
  • It was launched on 25th June 2015.
  • Under PMAY-U affordable housing will be provided to the urban poor with a target of building 2 crore (20 million) affordable houses by 31 March 2022.
  • It has two components:
  1. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) (PMAY-U) for the urban poor and
  2. Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Gramin)(PMAY-G and also PMAY-R) for the rural poor.
  3. PMAY(U) is in its seventh year of implementation.
