RRR's Naatu Naatu wins the Golden Globe for the Best Original Song

The 80th annual Golden Globe Awards have taken place in Los Angeles, with RRR winning Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu, a first for India. The film's catchy musical number beat pop heavyweights Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.

The song was filmed in front of Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky's official residence in 2021 months before the war between Russia and Ukraine began. 

Written and directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR tells the rollicking story of two revolutionaries Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharamaraju who fight against British rule in India.  The lead roles are played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR. RRR also stars Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in pivotal roles. The film has collected  ₹1,200 crore worldwide. 

RRR, which stands for Rise, Roar, Revolt, was also competing for Best Non-English Language Film which was won by Argentina, 1985. Apart from RRR, Decision to Leave and All Quiet on the Western Front were nominated in this category. 

Apart from RRR, other notable winners included The Banshees Of Inisherin, The Fabelmans and Everything Everywhere All At Once. Abbott Elementary and The White Lotus were the big winners in the television categories.
