Rajasthan Govt Announces 3 New Districts

Against the backdrop of the upcoming Assembly elections in Rajasthan, the state Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced the formation of three new districts in the state.

The three new districts are Malpura, Sujangarh, and Kuchaman City. Sujangarh is currently a part of Churu while Malpura will be carved out of Tonk. The government had earlier turned Deedwana-Kuchaman, previously part of Nagaur, into a new district. Now, Kuchaman City has been announced as a separate district.

This decision has been made in response to public demand and the recommendations of a high-level committee. With the addition of these districts, Rajasthan now boasts a total of 53 districts.
The decision to create these new districts is driven by the desire to address the needs of the state’s public. It also aligns with the recommendations of a high-level committee tasked with evaluating the necessity for district expansion.

The addition of these new districts is expected to enhance governance and make governmental services more accessible to local residents. Previously, many individuals had to travel long distances to reach district headquarters for various purposes.

This marks the second occasion when Gehlot-led Congress government has increased the number of districts in the state.

Earlier in August, the state government announced 17 new districts and redrew the two large urban districts – Jaipur and Jodhpur.

This is the second time the Gehlot-led Congress government has increased the number of districts in the state.

Additionally, three new divisions were established.

The 17 districts announced in August were Jaipur Rural, Jodhpur Rural, Apupgarh, Balotra, Beawar, Deeg, Didwana-Kuchaman, Dudu, Gangapur City, Kekri, Kotputli-Behror, Khairthal-Tijara, Neem ka Thana, Phalodi, Slumber, Sanchore and Shahpura.

Rajasthan is among the five states that will go to assembly elections later this year, along with Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Mizoram.
