PM Modi condoles demise of renowned Telugu lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the passing away of renowned Telugu lyricist and Padma Shri awardee Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry.

Chembolu Seetharama Sastry, popularly known as Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, passed away on 30th November due to lung cancer-related complications.

"Saddened by the passing away of the outstanding Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry. His poetic brilliance and versatility could be seen in several of his works. He made many efforts to popularise Telugu.Condolence to his family and friends. Om Shanti," the prime minister tweeted.

Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry wrote over 3000 songs in his career. He rose to popularity with his song Vidhatha Thalapuna for K Viswanath's 1986 film Sirivennela.

He won several Filmfare Awards and Nandi Awards for his work in the south cinema.  in 2019 he was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in India
