NITI Aayog to Hold 8th Governing Council Meeting Today

NITI Aayog will be organising its 8th Governing Council Meeting on the theme of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Role of Team India’ on May 27, 2023 in New Delhi.

Eight prominent themes will be discussed during the day-long Meeting including (i) Viksit Bharat@2047, (ii) Thrust on MSMEs, (iii) Infrastructure and Investments, (iv) Minimising Compliances, (v) Women Empowerment, (vi) Health and Nutrition, (vii) Skill Development, and (viii) Gati Shakti for area development and social infrastructure.

NITI Aayog is Government’s policy think tank

This 8th Governing Council Meeting is also being held in the backdrop of India’s G20 Presidency. So far, seven meetings of the Governing Council have been held. The first Governing Council Meeting took place in 2015.

NITI Aayog was formed via a resolution of the Union Cabinet on 1 January 2015. The Governing Council of NITI Aayog came into effect on 16 February 2015 via a notification by the Cabinet Secretariat. The Governing Council was reconstituted vide a notification dated 19 February 2021 by the Cabinet Secretariat.

The Governing Council of NITI Aayog comprises Chief Ministers of all the States and Union Territories with legislatures and Lt Governors of other Union Territories.
