NIRF Rankings 2022 was released by the Union Minister of Education Dharmesh Pradhan


NIRF 2022: The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2022 was released on 15th July 2022 by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Highlights:

  • This is the seventh consecutive edition of NIRF.
  • NIRF India Ranking 2022 has been announced for 11 categories.
  • This includes overall, university, management, college, pharmacy, medical, engineering, architecture, ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements), law and research institutions.
  • A total of 4,786 institutions were evaluated on five parameters.
  • The ranking framework judges institutions under five broad generic groups of parameters of Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Perception (PR).
  • Ranks are assigned based on the total sum of marks assigned for each of these five broad groups of parameters.
  • IIT-Madras has retained its number one position in the overall educational institutes and engineering categories this year as well.
  • The institute also bagged the second position in the ‘research’ category that was newly introduced in 2021.
  • The best medical college in India — like in the previous years’ — is the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Delhi, followed by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh.

Top Five - NIRF 2022 Rankings:

  • The top five universities are IISc, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jadavpur University and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
  • The top five colleges in the country are Miranda House, Hindu College, Presidency College, Loyola College and Lady Shri Ram College for Women.
  • The top five medical institutes are All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, Christian Medical College, Vellore, National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru, and Banaras Hindu University.
  • The top five management institutes are the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, IIM Bengaluru, IIM Kolkata, IIT Delhi and IIM Kozhikode.
