Liz Truss beats Rishi Sunak in Tory leadership race to be new UK PM


New Prime Minister of UK: Conservative Party leader Liz Truss has been elected as the new Prime Minister of United Kingdom after defeating Rishi Sunak.

  • Buckingham Palace had said in a statement that the queen received in audience the right honourable Elizabeth Truss MP today and requested her to form a new administration.
  • The last time the handover of power took place at Balmoral was in 1885, when queen Victoria was on the throne.
