35 year old Leftist candidate Gabriel Boric has won Chile's presidential election to become the country's youngest ever leader. Gabriel Boric, former student leader , defeated his far-right rival Antonio Kast.
Boric who will take office in March, will be the second millennial to lead in Latin America. Earlier Nayib Bukele was elected to the presidency of El Salvador in 2019 at the age of 37.
Antonio Kast is the supporter of General Augusto Pinochet who acquired power in a coup and ruled Chile from 1973 to 1990,
Chile is one of South America's most stable and prosperous countries.
