India finishes at 4th Place in Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games


India at CWG 2022: India has been ranked at 4th place, in terms of medals in the Commonwealth Games 2022 which were held from July 28 to August 8, 2022.

Key Highlights:

  • India bagged a total of 61 medals, comprising of 22 Gold, 16 Silver, and 23 Bronze.
  • This was India’s 4th best performance at the CWG with respect to winning gold medals.
  • India’s best-ever performance at the Commonwealth Games was in 2010, when it bagged 101 medals, including 38 Gold.
  • This was India's 18th appearance at the Commonwealth Games.
  • India has been placed behind Australia with 178 medals, England with 176 and Canada with 92 medals followed by New Zealand in the fifth position with 20 Gold.
  • Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won the first gold medal for the country at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
  • India won its first ever medal in Lawn Bowls after Women's Fours team won Gold Medal, and also Men's fours won Silver medal.
  • Sharath Kamal won four (3 Gold and 1 Silver) medals in Table Tennis.
