Global Conference on Digital Health – ‘Taking Universal Health Coverage to the Last Citizen’

India’s Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has organized a Global Conference on Digital Health. With the theme “Taking Universal Health Coverage to the Last Citizen,” the conference focused on exploring the potential of digital health solutions to improve healthcare delivery and achieve universal health coverage targets.

The conference lasted from March 20 to March 21, 2023 in New Delhi. The conference was a co-branded event under India’s G20 Presidency organized by WHO – South-East Asia Region in collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

The organization of the conference is a step in the direction of harnessing the boundless potential of digital health that can accelerate progress towards universal health coverage (UHC)

Addressing the conference, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, India’s Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, underscored the critical role of digital health in revolutionizing healthcare systems. 

The conference was attended by global health experts, policymakers, and leaders from the public and private sectors.

India aims to launch a global initiative on digital health as an institutional framework to converge the global efforts for digital health and scale up digital solutions with the use of cutting-edge technologies. 

There is a need to create a global institutional framework to realign the existing digital health efforts.
