Integration of ABDM with Aarogya Setu: The National Health Authority (NHA) under its flagship scheme of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) recently announced integration with health App - Aarogya Setu.
Key Points:
- The integration will enable the Aarogya Setu app users to avail the benefits of ABDM.
- Under the ABDM, a user can generate their 14-digit unique ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) number to the Aarogya Setu user base and beyond.
- In addition, the users can use the ABHA number to link their existing and new medical records including doctor prescriptions, lab reports, hospital records etc.
- They can also share these records with registered health professionals and health service providers.
- They can access other digital health services while maintaining a common pool of medical history.
- The user can generate their ABHA number using their Aadhaar number and some basic demographic details like Name, Date of Birth, Gender, and address.
- If the user does not wish to use their Aadhaar, they can use their Mobile Number or Driving License to generate the ABHA number.
- The integration of Aarogya Setu with ABDM will enable the users to join the digital health ecosystem, with their due consent.
About ADBM:
- The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2021.
- The mission was launched during the third anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).
- The ABDM was launched with an aim to develop the backbone necessary to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country.
- It seeks to bridge the existing gap amongst different stakeholders of Healthcare ecosystem through digital highways.
- The National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is the implementing agency of the mission.

- ABDM will create a seamless online platform “through the provision of a wide-range of data, information and infrastructure services, duly leveraging open, interoperable, standards-based digital systems†while ensuring the security, confidentiality and privacy of health-related personal information.
