4th ETWG Meeting Under India’s G20 Presidency

The 4th Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) Meeting under India’s G20 Presidency began in Goa from July 19, 2023. 

The 4th Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting (ETWG) under India’s G20 Presidency is being held in Goa from July 19th to 22nd, 2023. 100 delegates from G20 member countries, special invitee countries, and several International Organisations are participating in the two-day meeting.

The discussions in the 4th ETWG meeting in Goa will continue to build on the first three meetings in Bengaluru, Gandhinagar, and Mumbai respectively, to identify and promote best practices, policies, and innovative approaches that support a just and inclusive energy transition. 

On the sidelines of the main event, the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial and 8th Mission Innovation Meeting (CEM14/MI-8) too commenced on Day 1 with great enthusiasm and active participation from more than 34 member countries. 
 
The theme of CEM14/MI-8 is ‘Advancing Clean Energy Together.’

The 3rd the Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting (ETWG) was held in Mumbai from 15th to 17th May, 2023. The three-day meeting saw over 100 delegates representing G20 member countries, special invitee countries and International Organisations such as International Energy Agency (IEA), Word Bank and World Energy Council India engaging in discussions and deliberation on Priority Areas.

The first meeting of ETWG was held in Bengaluru in Karnataka, in February, 2023 and the second  ETWG deliberation was held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat from 2nd to 4th April, 2023. The discussions and deliberations in Mumbai  continued to build on the first two ETWG meetings to identify and promote best practices, policies, and innovative approaches that can support a just and inclusive energy transition. 

The six priority areas, outlined under India’s Presidency, include 
(i) Energy transition through addressing technology gaps 
(ii) Low-cost financing for energy transition 
(iii) Energy security and diversified supply chains 
(iv) Energy efficiency, industrial low carbon transitions and responsible consumption, 
(v) Fuels for Future (3F) 
(vi) Universal access to clean energy and just, affordable, and inclusive energy transition pathway.
