This year 23rd Uttarakhand Foundation Day is being celebrated. It was celebrated on 9th November.

It was on this day in 2000, that the state of Uttarakhand came into being. It was carving out from Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in the country. 
 

In 2007, the name of the state was formally altered from Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand Day,  also referred to as Uttarakhand Divas, is celebrated as the state foundation day of Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is observed annually on 9 November (beginning in 2000). 

Uttrakhand got separated from Uttar Pradesh and became the 27th State of India. Other Indian sates formed in 2000 were Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh
